the start of the holiday season

My favorite party dress paired with new jewelry.

Happy Thanksgiving! After today, we officially snowball — pardon the pun — into the winter holiday season, which, of course, means holiday parties, family dinners, and generally good get-togethers.

My family never does “fancy holiday dressing” during our gatherings. We’ve always kept things casual and cozy, especially since there’s a lot of food to be had. Even so, it’s fun to get dressed up for a holiday event. Thesis of Alexandria, one of my favorite jewelry brands, was kind enough to send me some of their newest pieces for the holidays, which I incorporated into this festive look.

This look has been my go-to holiday party outfit for a few years now. This suede dress is wintry and festive, and it’s what I reach for on special occasions. It’s also a little stretchy, which helps if I’m going to a dinner or seeing a show. Lots of sitting down, you know? I always pair it with a turtleneck for coziness; plus, I love the way my jewelry looks when layered over a high neckline.

The necklaces are perfectly made for layering. I’ve never owned any opal jewelry, and I love how the stones sparkle and catch the light — an excellent choice for evenings out. Thesis of Alexandria offers a few other color options (and matching earrings too), so you can pick one to suit your unique style. I slipped on a dainty solitaire ring, and layered the opal necklace over another zodiac-themed coin pendant. My zodiac collection continues to grow…
